Bill McHenry live on NPR

I had the pleasure of meeting Bill McHenry in May when he was in Denmark as an “Artist in Residence” for 2 months. Among others, he joined forces with Søren Bebe’s trio and played at the Music library. One of those lovely and rare shows, where you felt in the presence of masters.

Now he’s long back in the US, and NPR/WBGO has just put a live set online from a recent performance at the Village Vanguard where he played with his own quartet. I’m quite taken - it’s grand in every way possible. Subtle, subtle.

If you have an hour and 15 minutes to spare, do yourself a favour and listen to this. NPR is streaming it for free!
